Tyeware Delivers myh2o for Mackay Regional Council

Local software firm, Tyeware delivers an “Australian first” solution to assist water customers of Mackay Regional Council to save water.

The myh2o system integrates the complex data from Mackay Regional Council’s automatic meter reading network into a simple yet powerful web application designed to save water consumers money.

Launched to the public by Cr. Diedre Comerford – Mayor of Mackay Regional Council on 18 March 2015 and Cr. Frank Gilbert (Water & Sewerage Portfolio Councillor), the myh2o system is the culmination of the close partnership between Tyeware and Council.

“It has been a privilege to work with Mackay Regional Council on such an innovative and industry leading project” says Steven Tye, Director of Tyeware.

The myh2o system will allow property owners, tenants and agents to review the water consumption of their properties in great detail from their PC, tablet computer or mobile device.

One important part of the system is an algorithm to detect water leaks at the property and to issue alerts to users via SMS and email. This same technology has already been used by Mackay Regional Council to issue more than 3,000 advices to property owners since 2012.

“It has been encouraging to see this technology being used in a way which is saving real money for water customers in the Mackay Region” says Mr. Tye. “We have seen properties with leaks costing more than $20 per day being fixed after receiving a notification from the system.”

The myh2o system can be accessed at myh2o.qld.gov.au.
